Click Fraud at 16.3% for Q1 2008

The amount of click fraud is still rife amongst those websites advertising on Google and Yahoo. According to a new report out by Click Forensics the overall industry click fraud rate for Q1 2008 is 16.3%. However, there was a slight decline for the first quarter (Q4 2007 was 16.6%) but overall illicit clicks were up year on year.

The average click fraud of PPC networks such as Google Adsense and Yahoo Publisher Network was at 27.8% an increase from 21.9% from Q1 2007.

The majority of click fraud originated from the United States followed by Monaco (3.1%), Ghana (3.1%), and New Caledonia (2.4%) .

Click still fraud remains a controversial issue for search engines and webmasters, who share the same goal of eradicating a larger percentage of it.
