Perhaps a knock on effect of the recession, or a long term trend? A recent report from comScore for the first time puts Facebook over eBay in the UK.
In December, Facebook had 21.2 million unique visitors compared to eBay's 20.5 million. So Facebook obtained the title of the fourth most popular website behind sites owned by Google, Microsoft, and Yahoo.
There's not a particularly big difference between Facebook and Yahoo, either. Assuming that not too many people abandoned the Facebook after the Christmas and New Year period, yet another change might soon take place. Yahoo sites saw 22.4 million unique visitors in December.
Online advertisers in the UK should now be a little more likely to accept any proposals Facebook makes.
