Researchers at Google recently presented a paper that goes one step further than PageRank. The paper describes in detail the new concept of VisualRank, which allows Google to rank images.
To date search engines can't see images and without accompanying meta data or text, they have no way of ranking images in their image search results. However, the technology hasn't been developed yet, but according to the Google Research Blog they are recruiting for the development team to carry this forward. The system may be extended to travel related queries.
The official Google research blog discusses ideas behind the theory of the research paper.
