Half of British internet users have never clicked on a banner ad, according to new research from Cia Surveys.

Only 6% of respondents said they click on a banner ad several times a month meanwhile 5% said they do it daily.

There was more bad news for advertisers as pop-up ads were even less popular - 69% of people said they had never clicked on a pop-up while only 2.6% claim to click on pop-ups daily.

Email marketing showed better results, with 41.3% of respondents clicking on links in marketing emails at least once a month.

The survey also revealed 65% of Britons believe TV is the most effective form of advertising, whilst online ads were runner up at 8%.

90% of respondents surf the internet every day as part of their daily routine.

1,000 people were polled in the UK during March 2008.
